About Simon

This site is maintained by me, Simon Cross. I’ve worked at the Open University in the Institute of Educational Technology for a couple of years now having arrived from a background in Geography (PhD, FRGS), teaching (PGCE, Associate Lecturer for OU) and brief work in local government (Cert Mgmt). Discplinary boundaries are always exciting places to be and I think there is much to gain at the intercept between the teaching and learning projects I join and other discplines. This may be theoretical, or practical – for example in the research and development of visualisation methods and ‘mapping’ learning design (JISC-supported project) or research and analysis on the Net(worked) Generation of learners (ESRC-supported project). Whatever my latest idea, or my latest endeavour, happens to be, where possible I’ll try and say a few words about it here.
